What to Do If You Run Out of Thread in an AVA Stitch Kit

At AVA Stitch, every kit is prepared with care and includes the threads needed to complete the design. However, cross stitch is a handmade process, and sometimes a thread may run out before the project is finished.

This can happen for different reasons: longer thread tails, stitching with more strands than indicated, knots, mistakes that require unpicking, or, in rare cases, a packing or calculation error.

The most important thing is simple: do not worry. We are here to help.

Step 1: Check the Instructions and the Key

Before contacting us, please check the key and the instructions included in your kit.

Make sure that:

- You are using the number of strands indicated in the key.

- You are using the correct symbol or shade for that area.

- You have checked all thread cards and any remaining threads in the kit.

- The missing thread has not been separated or stored in another place.

Sometimes a color may appear in several areas of the design, so it is useful to check the full pattern before deciding that a thread is missing.

Step 2: Do Not Replace the Thread Immediately

If you run out of a color, we recommend not replacing it with a similar shade right away.

Even small differences between thread shades can be visible in the final embroidery, especially in detailed designs, faces, animals, flowers, shadows, or backgrounds.

If you are unsure, contact us first. We will help you identify the correct thread and the best solution.

Step 3: Contact AVA Stitch Support

Please contact us through the chat on our website or by email at:

info@avastitch.com

To help us solve the issue quickly, please send us:

- A photo of the kit cover or the kit reference.

- A photo of the key or the symbol related to the missing thread.

- A photo of the remaining threads, if possible.

- A short explanation of which color or symbol has run out.

- Your order number, if you have it.

The more information you send us, the faster we can identify the exact thread.

Step 4: We Will Offer You a Solution

Depending on the situation, we may offer one of the following solutions:

- Give you the correct thread number or equivalent shade, if available.

- Help you identify the color from your kit.

- Send the necessary thread to your address free of charge.

If the issue is caused by a preparation or calculation error on our side, we will provide the missing thread at no cost.

Step 5: If We Need to Send Thread by Post

If we need to send you the missing thread, we will ask for your full delivery address.

In some countries, the postal or courier service may also require a phone number for delivery. This information is used only to complete the shipment.

How to Avoid Running Out of Thread

Here are a few simple tips that can help you use the threads more efficiently:

- Use the number of strands indicated in the key.

- Avoid cutting very long thread lengths, as they can wear out or tangle.

- Try not to leave very long thread tails on the back of the fabric.

- Keep unused threads organized on the thread card.

- Check the symbol carefully before stitching a large area.

- If you make a mistake, remove the stitches gently to avoid damaging the thread.

These small habits can make a big difference, especially in large and detailed cross stitch projects.
